CC and CCT sheathed aerial conductors are similar. Both of them have separate conductors covered with cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) insulation.

The main difference between CCT and CC is that in CCT, the thickness of the insulation changes according to the voltage level and conductor size, and it also has an external coating made of heavy polyethylene (HDPE). CC type only shows electrical endurance against accidental and short-term collisions of two phases to each other or phase to ground, while CCT can have proper insulation endurance against long-term contacts of two phases to each other or one phase to ground. XLPE is a polyethylene whose molecules are linked together in an X shape (Cross Linked Polyethylene) and after being placed in a steam room at high temperature and pressure, it improves the transverse link in the molecular chain.

Compared to PVC, which is polyethylene chloride, XLPE coating has better thermal properties (higher heat tolerance), mechanical, electrical, moisture, and resistance to ultraviolet rays from the sun, and it can also withstand conditions such as high tension well, and in fact, the structure This insulation has a significant resistance to wear and tear.

Aerial conductors of CCT cable are made of ACSR or AAAC in a compact form.
